Candace, owner and photographer of Sarafina’s Photographs, shot this little babe on his first birthday baking cupcakes with his mama. I love these casual sessions where the families can really be themselves in their homes.
From Candace: I had the pleasure of photographing Daniel & his mom Merrie. It seems like just yesterday I was taking Daniel’s newborn pictures. This time we were celebrating Daniel’s 1st Birthday! Merrie is an amazing baker and is known for her cakes! I thought it would be fun if we incorporated the baking into the cake smash session.
Merrie started whipping up the the basics. Daniel helped set up the colorful bowls and is already a pro with the spatula. He especially loved getting into the batter! Merrie and I were laughing throughout the whole session at his reactions. He got a little messy and we washed him up just to get dirty again.
Merrie iced the cake with a delish buttercream! {of course I tried it!} Daniel couldn’t wait and dove right in. He put his mouth right on the cake before it was even complete! For about a minute he would stick his finger in the cake and lick off the icing as fast as he could. Then he dove back in face first.”
What a cutie! I love how he started off with clothes, but ended up in just a diaper and then all the way into the sink for a bath. Looks like he really enjoyed the baking…
