The sun is coming up as I am writing this, which is not normal hours for me but the last few days I have been sleeping so sound it’s been making me rise earlier. I am watching  the sun peak through the trees in my front yard and turn the horizon that certain color that can only mean fall is near.

Over the last 3 months of this amazing summer I took a time-out from technology to stick my feet in the ground and think about what really makes me happy. Here is what I found; being on the beach listening to my kids laugh does, listening to my body makes me happy, and so does being connected to the people I love. Living in the moment instead of worrying about what needs to be done tomorrow, is delightful.  This very moment is too precious to not give my undivided attention to.

When you take a break from something, you gain perspective and although what I learned isn’t ground breaking, I found that doing what makes you truly shine is always the best choice. Making the most of every minute is actually as rewarding as everyone says it is. So I am going to keep practicing being present, but don’t worry I will pop in every once and a while to see what you all are up to 😉

I also have been working on my book (read more about my portfolio here)! As always I would love to hear what is making you happy…comment below or join me on Instagram.

Happy New Year! 2016 was a year of amazing adventures, new friends, business triumphs, and growth but, like all good things, there were some tough counterparts as well. I have been looking forward to a fresh start this year in 2017.

I have also been thinking a ton about the future of this blog. Back 6 years ago when I started, I was blogging to exercise my writing muscle while being a mom of one. Over time we added two little girls to our family and my writing aspirations have grown as well. After a lot of thinking I have decided to try to blog here on the first week of every month (i.e. February 6th, March 6th, April 3rd, and etc.) I am going to do more lengthy posts about things I love and have discovered over the few weeks in between. I hope you like this new format but as always, your feedback is much appreciated over the next few months.

With all of this I have thought a lot about how much I want to share of my family online. My priorities have shifted and for now, I am going to hold back from showing all of their faces in posts and on social media. It’s just something I feel in my gut at the moment.

Please make sure you stay up to date with my newsletter by subscribing at the bottom of any posts and at the bottom of the home page. You can also follow my professional work over here and on Instagram. Let’s keep in touch during my “off” weeks blogging and I hope you enjoy my favorite things for January, below. *as always simply click on the image to shop the item.

The dust has settled on the election, and after a stay at home/stay in my pj’s/eat candy all day-day, I am ready to put my big girl pants on and move on. Well sort of.  This weekend is all about the kids with school events, field trips etc. so I am already planning my very cozy Sunday night by the fire with a book and a cup of tea.

If your feeling the election blues, nothing ,and no one can pull you out of a funk like David Sedaris can. He is completely hysterical. His books have gotten me out of some ugly cries from my apartment floor in college.

These books above are personally owned by yours truly and I suggest you get yourself a copy of each one! You can click the images to purchase them or you can scroll through the images below and shop there as well.

As always, I would LOVE to know if you have read any of these, which ones you loved, or even didn’t like so much. Also head over to Instagram and join the conversation there as well!
